ESPEE Searchlight Elegy
For more than seven decades searchlight signals stood guard on Southern Pacific mainlines and short lines throughout Arizona. Across the Sunset Route they became iconic symbols of the ESPEE. But with all things, the future has a way of catching up. I have been lucky enough to be able to photograph them, in the twilight years of service. Some things you think are never going away and then, right in front of you, they're gone . As of this writing, only a precious few remain.
